Quick Time Summer.

DIY Summer Tie Top

VID 2 FOTO 4.jpg

So what’s the verdict now, can we go outside or not?

Made this quick, easy and beginner friendly summer shirt to catch in a bit of the sun rays before we all may or may not have to go back inside. I used a self drafted pattern and a yard of fabric for this shirt. It’s airy, light and with the right choice of fabric, very summer ready. On the plus side, you don’t necessarily need a sewing machine if you don’t have one. A sewing thread and needle will do just fine; it’ll take a little longer but you’ll get the same result. Check out this video on the how to.

Tools and Materials

1-2 yards of any cotton fabric

Matching thread

Pinking shears

How To

Draw out your pattern using your bust and upper hip measurements.

Using your pinking shears, cut out your pattern. If you do not have a sewing machine, the pinking shears will aid in nicely finishing the seams.

With right sides of fabric facing each other, sew sides of garment with 2cm seam allowance to connect. You can also hand stitch using back stitching. This will form a tube. Once you have your tube, hem the top and bottom edge so it's well finished. You  can skip this step if you used the pinking shears.

Press in seams.

Using your pinking shears, cut out four strips for your shoulder straps; 18 x 2  inches . Measure 4 inches from the end of tube seam. Attach strap to tube top from the end of the 4 inches matching right side of strap to wrong side of top.

Do this with all straps. Press and turn shirt to right side. Remove loose threads and we are done!

Style and accessorize as you please.
